While Kirk's birthplace on Earth was known to be Iowa, the city wasn't specified in ST:TOS. In 1985 however of Riverside, Iowa, designated itself as the "Future birthplace of James T. Kirk," and received Gene Roseberry blessing. The city hosts many StarTrek events, including the Riverside Trek Festival every year. StarTrek Trivia Calendar
